Ventilation systems for swimming pools

What are chemically resistant ventilation systems? Why does it play an important role in the installation market?

It is a complete system of ventilation ducts and fittings, chemically resistant and assembly accessories - commonly used in buildings:
• research institutes-laboratories, pharmaceutical and chemical plants,
• swimming pools, thermal complexes,
• galvanizing plants, chemical warehouses,
• sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, water treatment plants, bio -composting plants.

These objects are exposed to various highly toxic substances and chemical activities.

Plastics as an alternative to swimming pool ventilation
An important element during choosing the right material for the ventilation system in swimming pools is to precisely define the working condition of the elements, e.g: the temperature of the transported air, humidity, UV radiation, and the content of aggressive compounds. Chlorine solutions used in pool water purification processes cause the occurrence of many chemical compounds in the exhaust air from the hall. The content of chlorine ions in the air has a devastating effect on steel ventilation ducts and building structure. A lot of indoor swimming pools where steel ventilation ducts have been installed are struggling with corrosion problems, leaks and significant maintenance costs.

A modern approach to increase the corrosion resistance of ducts is to use suitable plastic material. Plastic ventilation systems ensure long-term protection of structural corrosion and the required tightness. The main advantages of these materials are ease of assembly, a wide range of fittings and connectors. They have the longest liveness among available installation materials. Specific techniques of joining the final products ensure high tightness class and quality of connections. These obvious installations and operating advantages go hand-in-hand with numerous advantages for the users.

Swimming pool ventilation system

How to select ventilation system in the technical facilities of swimming pools.?

High requirements are placed on the swimming pool ventilation, It must be resistant to agrgressive and humid environment. Not only a professional air handling unit is responsible for thermal and humidity conditions. An appropriate ventilation air distribution system in technical rooms e.g pumping stations, enginerooms, chlorine storage facilities also has an impact. In the ventilation ducts high humidity air which contain chlorine derivatives is transported. Attempts to protect such wires with an additional varnish coating only slightly extend their service life. However, it should be remembered that the service life and aesthetics depend on: painting method, paint quality, lack of any unevenness, degreasing of the surface or coating damage.

There are also available other solution which can be used in swimming pool halls. An example is a system made of a mineral glass sheets the inner surface is made of flexible aluminum foil reinforced with a fiberglass mesh). The advantages of this type of installation are: the possibility of prefabrication of wires directly at the construction site, no profiles are needed for installation. These systems are resistant to pool chemistry. However, the inner material, which is mineral wool, is a absorbent material and shouldn’ t be exposed to constant contact with water. This type of installation can collapse under load. In addition, it is a very soft material, that makes cleaning difficult. There is also a risk of damage to the structure during the building works
Alternative solutions against such situations are plastic channels. It comes up the strength requirements and high chemical resistance. It also perfectly copes with the transported medium. Plastics ducts is a solution significantly extending the service life and increasing the level of safety.
The modern chemical resistant ventilation system consists of ducts (Ø 75-800mm), bends (Ø 50-800mm), tees (Ø 50-800mm), female coupling (Ø 50-800mm), concentric reducers (Ø 50-800mm) end caps (Ø 50-800mm), angle takeoffs (50-800mm diameter). Round plastic ventilation ducts connected by welding (or PVC gluing to Ø 250), made in accordance with DIN 8062 standards for ventilation pipes. A full range of rectangular ducts and fittings made according to DIN 4740 and DIN 4741 is also available. A multitude of materials and professional tools allow us to produce virtually any rectangular elements, analogous to steel products.
