FOAM System: High-Performance Rubber Insulated Ducts and Fittings

The FOAM System represents a comprehensive solution for modern ventilation and air conditioning systems, combining the proven airtightness of the SPIRAL System with highly efficient thermal insulation. Specifically designed for speed and reliability, this category provides installers, architects, and investors with pre-insulated round spiro pipes and fittings, resulting in significant time savings on the construction site and guaranteed energy efficiency for the end-user.

Core Technical Specifications and Airtightness

The FOAM System piping consists of a complete range of ventilation components, including round spiro pipes, elbows, T-pieces, reducing pipes, joints, and stub pipes. The internal diameters comply with standard round element tolerances, ensuring secure and tight connections throughout the installation.

SPIRAL System Base and Airtightness Rating

  • Base Components: The internal ducts and fittings are elements of the SPIRAL System, featuring spirally wound construction.
  • Gasket Type: A factory-fixed EPDM rubber gasket is pre-installed on all fittings to ensure optimal sealing.
  • Airtightness Class: The pre-fitted gasket guarantees an airtightness rating of Class D (Certificate No. 0103/07), in accordance with EN 12237.

Closed-Cell Rubber Foam Insulation Parameters

The insulation layer is made of flexible, closed-pore foam based on synthetic rubber, providing superior temperature insulation properties and resistance to environmental factors.

Insulation and Fire Safety Data

  • Available Thicknesses: 9mm, 13mm, 19mm, and 25mm. (Tolerance according to EN 14304).
  • Flammability Class: B1 (B s3-d0) according to EN 13501-1, confirming suitability for technical installations.
  • EPDM Gasket Material: The homogenous EPDM rubber is highly resistant to ozone, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations, ensuring long operational life and gasket integrity.
Thermal Conductivity (EN 12667)
Temperature Max. Thermal Conductivity (W/mK)
-30degC 0.034 W/mK
0degC 0.036 W/mK
40degC 0.040 W/mK

Assembly Instructions for Installers and Fitters

The system is assembled quickly and efficiently, similar to ordinary round ventilation components. The pre-insulation dramatically reduces on-site labour for thermal sealing.

Key Steps and Fixing Requirements

  • Preparation: The pipe must be clean, and edges (if cut) must be cleaned of any shavings (blunted).
  • Assembly: Nipple elements are inserted until the rollover stop is reached. Lap screws or rivets are mounted after carefully lifting the rubber mat.
  • Joint Sealing: The rubber mat from both elements should press against each other for a continuous thermal barrier. If additional sealing is required, use TAPV-B self-adhesive black PVC tape (50mm wide) for optimal thermal sealing of the joints.
  • Fixing: Fix elements to the duct using sheet-metal screws and rivets. Cross-assembly is recommended for proper fitting. Fixings must be placed 10mm away from the duct edge and the stop on the element to avoid damaging the gasket.
Recommended Minimum Fixing Requirements (140-250mm diameter)
Diameter Range (mm) Min. Screw/Rivet Diameter (mm) Number of Screws/Rivets
140-250 3.2 4
