FLX-REKU Ecosystem: EPP Plenum Boxes, Manifolds and Semi-Rigid Ducting for MVHR

The FLX-REKU system represents a complete, high-performance solution for residential Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR). This category integrates insulated Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) plenum boxes and manifolds with highly durable, semi-rigid High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ducting. Engineered for superior durability and minimal pressure drop, the entire system is an ideal choice for installations requiring full concealment within the building's structure, meeting the high standards of architects and building investors.

EPP Components: Manifolds and Plenum Boxes (FLX-PLO-EPP-R, F, L)

The EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) construction of the plenum boxes and manifolds is a key technical advantage, offering multiple benefits crucial for technicians and system performance.

  • Superior Insulation and Acoustics: EPP acts as a natural insulator (thermal conductivity lambda=0.0038 W/mK) and provides excellent acoustic properties, reducing noise transmission from the central unit and fan system. Wall thickness ranges from 8 to 31 mm.
  • Aerodynamic Design: The internal profiled shape of all EPP boxes is designed to minimise pressure drops (Ap), leading to reduced energy consumption and improved overall system efficiency.
  • Corrosion Resistance: EPP ensures the components do not corrode, guaranteeing longevity and zero material degradation over the building's lifespan.
  • Flexible Installation (FLX-PLO-EPP-L): The 'L' version of the plenum box features a 300mm long air valve spigot, specifically designed to allow installation through thick concrete ceilings or walls, a necessity for modern construction.

Connection and Configuration for Technicians

Manifolds (FLX-PLO-EPP-R) are available to connect the central unit's main ducts (DN 125mm to DN 200mm) to the Ø75mm semi-rigid branch ducts. Configurations range from 4 to 18 spigots, allowing for precise system design and airflow distribution.

Semi-Rigid HDPE Ducting (FLX-HDPE/FLX-REKU)

The ductwork is the lifeline of the system, and Alnor provides highly durable and flexible options, all complying with the stringent EN 17192:2018 standard.

  • Material and Rigidity: Made of high-impact Polyethylene (PE/HDPE), the ducts boast high circumferential rigidity, making them suitable for burying directly in concrete or floor screeds.
  • Hygiene Focus (FLX-HDPE-A): The anti-bacterial ducts (FLX-HDPE-A and FLX-REKU) feature an antimicrobial coating with silver ions, certified to ISO 22196, effectively reducing the growth of bacteria (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus) and fungi.
  • Round and Oval Dimensions:
    • Round Ducts: Outer diameters Ø50mm, Ø63mm, Ø75mm, Ø90mm, supplied in 50m coils.
    • Low-Profile Oval Ducts (FLX-REKU-OVAL): Dimensions 52mm high by 132mm wide, ideal for minimal-depth floor and ceiling insulation.
