Perforated Spiral Ducts for Acoustic & Air Diffusion Applications – SPRP Series
The SPRP series of perforated spiral ducts are specialized components engineered primarily for the fabrication of high-performance ventilation silencers and custom air supply diffusers. Unlike standard ductwork, their purpose is not to transport air over long distances, but to serve as the structural core around which acoustic or air-diffusion systems are built.
Constructed with the same spiral-lock seam technology as our standard SPR ducts, the SPRP series offers exceptional rigidity and a uniform, high-quality finish.
Key Features & Benefits for Fabricators and Engineers
Optimized for Acoustic Performance: The standardized perforation pattern (RV 5x8) is designed to allow sound waves to pass through the duct wall and into the surrounding sound-absorbing material (like mineral wool), effectively attenuating noise within the HVAC system.
Ideal for Low-Velocity Air Diffusion: When used in diffuser construction, the perforated surface allows for the even, gentle distribution of supply air over a large area, making it perfect for large spaces like atriums, industrial halls, and convention centers where draft-free air supply is essential.
Superior Structural Integrity: The spiral-seam construction provides inherent strength. For ducts with a diameter of Ø250 mm and greater, standard external corrugations are added to further improve stiffness and resistance to negative pressure.
Standardized Perforation Pattern: All SPRP ducts feature an RV 5x8 pattern, consisting of 5 mm round holes arranged in a staggered pattern with an 8 mm spacing. This ensures consistent and predictable performance for acoustic and airflow calculations.
Primary Applications
The SPRP series is not a standalone duct but a critical component for building the following:

How It's Used
Key Benefit
Ventilation Silencers
Serves as the inner, perforated core tube. The space between the SPRP and an outer solid duct is filled with sound-absorbing insulation.
Creates a highly effective duct sound attenuator to reduce fan and airflow noise.
Air Supply Diffusers
Used as the primary air distribution element, often wrapped in filter media or installed within a larger plenum.
Delivers a large volume of air at low velocity, preventing drafts and ensuring occupant comfort.
