The HRU-FlatAIR-X-80 series is the foundational model within the FlatAIR-X range, expertly engineered for high-efficiency Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) in compact living spaces such as studios and smaller apartments. This flush-mounted unit delivers a maximum air flow of 80 m3/h at 100 Pa, serving effectively as both a central and decentralised ventilation solution. Its construction utilises a self-supporting EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) casing, which provides exceptional durability, lightness, and crucial thermal and acoustic insulation, ensuring ultra-quiet operation with a sound power level of just 46 dB(A).

Exchanger Technology and Superior Energy Efficiency

The HRU-FlatAIR-X-80 offers two distinct heat exchanger types, allowing specifiers and installers to select the optimum solution based on project moisture and energy demands:

  • Standard Model (HRU-FlatAIR-X-80-H/CF): Features a high-performance Counterflow Plastic (PET) heat exchanger, achieving a maximal thermal efficiency of up to 94.6%.
  • Enthalpy Model (HRU-FlatAIR-X-80E-H/CF): Includes an enthalpy heat exchanger that recovers both heat and moisture (up to 76.5%). This is essential for maintaining optimal indoor humidity levels without external humidification, improving occupant comfort.

  • Flexible Routing: The air inlet and outlet ducts can be connected from three sides of the unit, allowing for maximum adaptability in both flush-mounted and surface-mounted installations.
  • Mounting Positions: Supports Suspended, Vertical, and Horizontal installation (check model specifications for full compatibility).

Advanced Control and System Integrity

The unit features smart components for automated, efficient, and reliable long-term operation, crucial for both system longevity and occupant comfort:

  • Constant Flow (CF) System: Optional CF models (e.g., -80-H-CF) employ pressure sensors to automatically maintain the nominal, constant airflow regardless of increasing system resistance (e.g., dirt build-up in filters or pressure changes due to temperature), ensuring sustained performance.
  • Integrated Smart Controls: Includes a built-in RH sensor for automatic humidity management and an automatic, modulated by-pass as standard.
  • Connectivity: The unit can be controlled via a mobile application and is compatible with LOXONE and Modbus Smart Home systems.
  • External System Integration:
    • Dedicated X25 potential-free contact enables seamless connection to a kitchen cooker hood for exhaust fan shutdown.
    • Provision for connecting a Ground Heat Exchanger (GHE) using a dedicated damper and actuator.
  • Filtration: Comes standard with ISO Coarse 70% filters (former G4). The visual warning of filter status on the unit's LED and controller simplifies maintenance.
