Ventilation is a good air purifier, but it needs proper filters to trap fine dust and all harmful gases to ensure high quality ambient air.

Particles of any substance less than 10 or 2.5 microns in diameter are a hidden threat. This size range makes up a large proportion of the dust that can be inhaled deep into the lungs. Larger particles tend to get stuck in the nose, mouth or throat.

Some of the particulate matter found indoors comes from outside, especially PM2.5. These particles enter indoor spaces through doors, windows or ventilation systems, but can also originate from indoor sources. Smog filter helps to stop all emissions from the combustion of petrol or diesel fuel, which produce much of the PM2.5 pollution found in outdoor air, as well as a significant proportion of PM10.

Particles of indoor origin include components from biological sources, many of which are known allergens, such as pollen, mould spores, dust mites and cockroaches. Indoor activities also produce particles, including smoking tobacco, cooking and burning wood, candles or incense. Indoor particles can also be formed by complex reactions of gaseous pollutants emitted from sources such as household cleaning products and air fresheners.
